Auditions, Beaches, and College Prep: Conservatory 2021

Applications are now open!

Pack your sunscreen and grab your headshots because next summer the College Audition Conservatory is moving to Miami Beach for 2021! This eight-day summer intensive is hosted at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach and is packed with fun events, activities, and masterclasses given by some of the top musical theatre schools in the United States.

Taking place next summer from July 11th to the 18th this week-long intensive will be available for  any student graduating between the years of 2022 and 2026. Remember to put your best foot forward, as this fantastic event will be hosted by the historic Fontainebleau Hotel, a luxury boutique hotel that overlooks the beautiful beaches of South Florida. With so much to see and experience within walking distance, this doesn’t just have to be an event for the student and can be turned into a once in a lifetime experience for the whole family.

On top of a tropical destination, The Conservatory offers a wide selection of activities for the students to better prepare themselves for the rigorous college audition process. With masterclasses from faculty to table-talk with alums of the program, there will be a plethora of information and experiences for the students to attend. Past faculty have included college faculty members  Daniel Spector (New York University Tisch), Kaitlin Hopkins (Texas State University), Jane Lanier (Roosevelt University), Rick Edinger (Carnegie Mellon University), Mark Madama (University of Michigan) and Broadway actor and director Michael Arden (“Once On This Island”). Conservatory aims to offer students the chance to prepare their monologues, song selections, take dance classes and even have mock auditions in front of faculty from the topMusical Theatre schools.

This isn’t all business though.  Alongside the intensive there is a plethora of fun to be had, and The Conservatory is pulling out all the stops. Perform live on stage at famous Fontainebleau Fontaine Ballroom, , on the same stage that Whitney Houston performed “I Have Nothing” in the movie “The Bodyguard,”  or feast on one of the many award-winning restaurants the hotel has to offer! From beach BBQs to Color Wars, the events planned will make the work all worth it. Make sure to pack your best outfit, because to celebrate the week’s success there will be a farewell dinner and dance on the Biscayne Lady, a 111ft. Yacht that will sail off the coast for stunning skyline views and unforgettable memories.

Not only can students gain valuable skills and experience, but this week is also just as important for the parents! The college audition process is hard for everyone on the team and this week aims to help parents get a better understanding of the process as well as the knowledge needed for their students to succeed. With breakout teams aimed at helping parents learn how to navigate the audition process, parent-focused masterclasses, to Q and A sessions with past parents and students, the information provided will ultimately make the whole experience nothing but smooth sailing!

To attend this once in a lifetime experience, there is an audition process requiring video auditions of students. Fees for The Conservatory include hotels, meals, workshops, and masterclasses, with additional prices for private one-on-one offerings.
